Carmel is part of the IP and Commercialisation team, connecting academics to industry to maximise the impact of their research and expertise, and supporting businesses across all sectors to work with the university through collaborative research, access to facilities and other opportunities that drive innovation and growth.
She previously worked on Entrepreneurial Futures, a £5.6 million Good Growth initiative benefiting businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly through research and development-led activities across five thematic areas: clean energy, net zero, agri-tech, immersive technologies and coastal communities.
Carmel is Co-Chair of the Women's Network, which aims to promote a culture of respect and high performance for female staff by providing a unified voice on issues affecting women in the workplace, promoting professional development opportunities and facilitating events including the annual International Women's Day celebration.
Before joining the University, Carmel worked in the charity sector in teaching, training and community engagement and remains passionate about how the University's teaching, research and partnerships can deliver economic and social impact for ²ÝùÊÓÆµ and beyond.
