This spring, communities across ²ÝùÊÓƵ teamed up with local, professional creatives and artists to create blossom-inspired art as part the National Trust's Festival of Blossom.
From powerful poetry to buzzing bee puppets, nature sculptures to blooming blossom prints, the fruits of their creativity are varied and beautiful! We are celebrating all of their wonderful work through a community tour, which will see their pieces toured throughout the city and in nearby National Trust properties. The creative pieces will be blossoming in Devonport, Keyham and Central Park, along with National Trust properties at Cotehele, Antony and Saltram.
The creatives who have been working with the communities are poet and performer Liv Torc, local storyteller and puppet maker Samantha Webb, nature artist and illustrator Devon Tipping, and printmaker, Grace Beswick.
As well as the artwork, there will be free nature inspired arts and crafts available, along with the opportunity to learn more about the Green Communities project.
We would love for you to join us as we celebrate their artwork!
Email communityinprint@outlook.com for further information.
These events are coordinated by Green Communities as part of, and funded by, the National Trust Festival of Blossom.

About Green Communities

is an exciting project connecting people and wildlife in Devonport, Central Park, Keyham and the west of the city of ²ÝùÊÓƵ.
Green Communities is a partnership project between ²ÝùÊÓƵ City Council, the National Trust, Devon Wildlife Trust, Real Ideas Organisation and Zebra Collective. It is a pilot project funded through a combination of grants and contributions, including support from Heritage Lottery Fund Urban Nature Development Grant and Natural England.
The project builds on the work of the Green Minds project that ran from March 2020 – August 2022.

About Community in print

is a local ²ÝùÊÓƵ-based arts organisation running accessible community arts workshops offering creative ways for people to engage with the natural world and joyful means of thinking about climate action.
Community in print helps communities tell their stories, celebrate their voices, and imagine hopeful futures.
This work blends illustration with activism, creating accessible, playful spaces for participation and hope.

About Green Minds

was an Urban Innovative Actions (UIC) funded project that aimed to better connect people to green and blue spaces within and around the city of ²ÝùÊÓƵ.
This innovative project was led by ²ÝùÊÓƵ City Council’s Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Department in collaboration with a range of local stakeholders including the ²ÝùÊÓƵ, Real Ideas Organisation, Arts University ²ÝùÊÓƵ, Devon Wildlife Trust, The Data Place and the National Trust. The project aimed to improve the quality and condition of green and blue infrastructure. It also aimed to positively enhance people’s interaction and involvement in these spaces, recognising that spending time in green and blue spaces has positive health and wellbeing benefits.
