With a focus on the reality and contemporary methodologies of diplomacy, ²ÝùÊÓƵ MA alumnus Jordan Neal will deliver a lecture on diplomacy, exploring its past and looking to the future.
Working at the Commonwealth Secretariat, Jordan has undertaken diplomatic missions across four continents, including election observation, as part of the Secretary-General’s delegation, high-level United Nations conferences, peacebuilding negotiations, and specialised political assistance. He has worked under two Secretaries-General and has a split portfolio between the Good Offices for Peace Section, and the Caribbean and Americas Political Desk.
As somebody actively working in what is often an under-covered and somewhat mystifying area of international relations, Jordan will share how he got into the field, what it is really like working day to day (and night to night!) in multilateral geopolitics, and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
This lecture is open to all. Email patrick.holden@plymouth.ac.uk for further information.
