Details

Year 1

Collaborate with directors and creatives to bring stories to life across stage, screen, and emerging media. You'll build your actor’s toolkit through improvisation, voice, and movement and explore how the body communicates in live and recorded environments, from theatre to film and motion capture. Develop scenes from script to performance while engaging critically with design, lighting, and scenography. 
Motion capture

Year 2

Expand your performance skills across diverse platforms – from radio and podcasts to immersive theatre and digital media. Explore voice work for audio drama and podcasting, and discover how acting shifts in front of the camera and in motion capture environments. Engage with theatre as a tool for social change through applied practices, and take part in a professional theatre residency. You'll develop your technical awareness with hands-on production experience, collaborating with specialists to bring performances to life in both live and recorded formats.

Optional placement year

Undertake an optional placement year where you can build a number of key employability skills. Put theory into practice, get a taste for your chosen career and expand upon your professional network.

Final year

Deepen your understanding of performance through research, dramaturgy, and composition, exploring how ideas move from concept to stage or screen. Hone advanced screen acting techniques in collaboration with film students, and develop your artistic voice through your final major project. You'll build an industry-ready portfolio that reflects your unique focus as a performer and creative practitioner.

Amateur Dramatics Society: create, collaborate, perform

The ²ÝùÊÓƵ Amateur Dramatics Society (UPAD) are a fun group of people who love to perform and/or write! We hold two showcases in the academic year and every member who auditions will be given a role. 
You have a chance to write for these showcases and the committee will choose some of your original works for our performances! We encourage people of all abilities and skills to join, as we provide opportunities for people interested in working backstage and writers as well as actors.

Tuition fee price changes
On Monday 20 October 2025, the UK Government announced its intention to increase tuition fees for home undergraduate students in line with inflation from 2026 onwards.
Along with other universities in the UK, the ²ÝùÊÓƵ intends to apply this new fee. Whilst the exact details have not currently been announced, it is expected that the increase will be in the region of £400, increasing the annual tuition fee to £9,935 for 2026, which will then be subject to automatic inflationary increases thereafter. However, implementation of this increase will be subject to further Government guidance and legislation.
